Chickering 106c

Chickering 106c c. late 1880 (undated) A 6′-3″, 88 note Erard action yacht tail Parlor Grand that was partially restored 2020.

This piano was a highly successful partial rebuild using a soundboard restoration technique we developed and refined over a number of years. This restoration project convinced us that, contrary to the weight of current conventional wisdom, low compression, minimally loaded boards are in fact highly functional. Not only are they highly functional, they are an essential part of recreating the Chickering textural and pitch clarity of a pre-modern piano.
